forms are curved and rounded giving a sense of a softer life. Perhaps he thought this was needed by the world, a sunnier outlook for the future. His Three Women At The Spring, whilst having the solidity of the Iberian sculpture and their mask like faces, do seem to have softer expressions and gentler, less tense body poses. The paintings on the whole look peaceful

and relaxed as though to encourage the world to take it easier. The surrealist abstract forms still appeared, such as with Bather with Beach Ball and Nude in an Armchair but the jaggedness and garishness was now gone. Typically the forms were spherical, symbolic of oneness and flowing, the colours are muted, pastel. This was unfortunately not to last.
